Bristol Evening Post, 20/6/02 .  (Informed Parent 2/2003)

A two-month old Bristol baby died unexpectedly, inquest heard. Karla Leigh Chick of Summerhill Road, St George, was found motionless in her bed by her mother Jennifer Allen on July 10 last year. Karla was taken to the Royal Bristol Hospital for Children but staff were unable to revive her.

A statement from Karla's mother read out in court said Karla had received a repeat vaccination for Hepatitis B the day before she died.

Post-mortem examinations were unable to determine a cause of death. Bristol coroner Paul Forrest recorded an open verdict. He said: "There is no evidence medically or otherwise to establish the circumstances in which this baby came by her death."
