Wyeth May Leave MedImmune Holding the FluMist Bag

By Adam Feuerstein, TheStreet.com Senior Writer

Wyeth (NYSE:WYE - News) said Thursday that it will close a manufacturing
plant that was making the next-generation version of the troubled nasal flu
vaccine FluMist. The decision to shutter the plant once again raises
questions about whether the drugmaker intends to split from its FluMist
partner MedImmune (NasdaqNM:MEDI - News).

All operations at the Marietta, Pa.-based factory will be shuttered by
December, Wyeth said on Thursday. In its news release, Wyeth said the plant
was making an "investigational influenza vaccine," which company spokesman
Doug Petkus confirmed is the experimental, refrigerated version of FluMist.
