   Sue,
I have had the unfortunate opportunity to actually
have a personal experience with Dr. Offit. My daughter
is chronically ill, and all her treatment is done at
CHOP.  Dr. Offit is the chief of infectious disease
there, and has been called in on a number of occasions
to oversee my daughters care.  He doesn't like me very
much! ~:-}  I am a strong and educated advocate for my
daughter, and have spoken against his philosophies of
treatment each and every time he has been called
in..........and have turned up right each time!  He is
a closed minded..............highly
funded..................pawn in our war to keep our
children healthy.

As you can imagine.........each time he walks into the
room to treat a child...........a team is always with
him. (CHOP is a teaching hospital, and after all he IS
the "chief").  I have had a number of his "groupies"
come and talk to me privately after listening in on my
intense and fundamentally educated conversations with
him.

I love CHOP.  They have an amazing group of
physicians.  I would recommend that anyone take their
child there for treatment...........their care is
unsurpassed.  Unfortunately, Dr. Offit gets to treat
an infection.............SLAM a child with highly
toxic drugs that need daily labs to be sure the child
will survive the side effects.................and then
gets to walk away and let the other specialists mop up
all the damage left behind................and he never
looks back.  Very sad.

I am just very blessed that I have the education that
I do, and don't allow him to be the "be all end all
decision maker" that he is accustomed to being.
Please don't misinterpret.  It's the way he is
trained.  It's the only way he knows.  He deals in
infectious disease and they are "ALL" like that.
<sigh>

This battle is a constant one..................
