200 may barricade wildlife centre set to be culled

Around 200 people have threatened to barricade a Cumbrian wildlife centre set to be culled.

The Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue Centre near Wigton is home to five goats, three Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs and a Herdwick sheep which could be slaughtered.

George Scott, the centre's owner, has refused to allow MAFF to kill the animals, not protected by the new ease in regulations.

"Our Kenyan dwarf goats were given to us a number of years ago. They were very skinny and totally neglected.

"For them to suffer that and then some idiot in London decides they'll be culled - no chance," he told The Daily Telegraph.

Mr Scott has refused MAFF's request and is waiting to see what will happen next.
