On Autism One:  A Conversation of Hope hosted by Teri Arranga:

Part I:  Melissa's Story
We will be joined by Melissa, a 21-year-old who was previously healthy and who did not miss days from work due to illness.  She received a flu and a tetanus vaccine in July.  In addition to still developing a flu-like illness, little did Melissa know that she would soon land in an internationally renowned neurological center for brain and spine diseases, expected to die.  Melissa now believes that her severe symptoms and the treatment she received following the two vaccines in July fit a case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome.  What happened to Melissa?  How is she doing now and what are her continuing challenges?

Part II:  The Parent and Physician Partnership for Healing our Children with Kendal Stewart, MD & Lisa Hunter Ryden
Kendal Stewart, MD & Lisa Hunter Ryden talk about the parent-physician team approach to recovering a child from autism, even in times of regression.  Lisa will share how her son, Jake, recovered from many sensory issues and clinical symptoms such as heavy metal toxicity. Dr. Stewart will discuss immune function and how he treats the source and not just the symptoms.  Lisa will discuss how important it is for parents to document behaviors at home and school and communicate milestones with their child's doctor.  Other topics include laboratory biomarkers and pathogens.  This program will be chock-full of information!  Dr. Stewart and Lisa will join us again in November.
