Spiritual

"In this age of selfishness, selfless service (Seva)is the only soap that truly purifies"
    Amma

    What Amma says about seva...
"Those who perform selfless actions don't have to tire themselves looking for God anywhere, for God's true shrine is the heart of the person who performs selfless service."

"To be able to see our own Self in every living thing with both our eyes open - that is Self-realization. We must see ourselves in others, and love and serve them. That is when spiritual practice achieves perfection."

"We should make sure that our spiritual practice is accompanied by selfless service. That would be like pouring milk into a clean vessel. On the other hand, spiritual practice without selfless service is like pouring milk into a dirty vessel."

"It is through selfless actions that one becomes qualified to receive God's grace."

Quotes re Amma
"
Earlier this year, I donated some zappers to a naturopath from Vancouver who lives and works (for free) at Amma's ashram in Southern India.  Amma is a woman (guru?) whom Carol was very impressed with when she went to one of her talks in Moscow, Idaho, years ago.  I think it was in a Unitarian church.  The room was packed and she went with her friend, Linda, who is also a psychic.
I'm in the habit of suspending belief, judgement and denial when I encounter what may be new to me but I'd heard nothing but good about Amma.  The gurus that are promoted in the West are mostly from the CIA/Theosophy cookie cutter mold, of course.  This one evidently is not and there are probably a few more genuine ones out and about.
The presentation inspired Carol to redesign the crystal/coil arrangement in her  Crystal Harmonizer to resemble the powerful healing energy dynamic that she and Linda saw coming from Amma, moving out to the entire audience (packed room) and back to her in a cyclic fashion.  Carol didn't discern a scrap of selfishness from that incredible woman.  I think she demonstrates the underlying principle of all genuine religions, which is selfless service and unconditional love.  Naturally, she's not pushing the typical self-serving, Theosophy-ridden sack of dogma that explains everything and answers nothing.  I don't see any dogma at all in her presentations, nor did Carol.
I like to draw attention to people like this because the spotlight is always  on the  clever, charismatic fakers.
I'm posting the Doc's note to me because I think you'll enjoy it, especially Amma's quotes at the end, which seem to also  summarize what gifting is all about.  ~Don Croft
