Ivan von Birchan - approached by CIA to murder Swedish prime minister Olof Palme The CIA offered Ivan two million U.S dollars cash, in early 1986, to murder Swedens prime minister Olof Palme. With Ivan’s background in the military and as a contractor in Lybia, South Rhodesia, they thought that Ivan was the perfect man for the job. But he said "thanks, but no thanks" and went to the Swedish secret police SÄPO (säkerhetspolisen) and told that Palme’s life was in danger. They didn’t listen or want to do anything about it, so Ivan later went to people in Palme’s cabinet to warn them. Inger Båvner was one of them. Båvner has later also confirmed that Ivan had warned her prior to the murder of the prime minister.
CIA attempted to recruit young Olof Palme (Victim of ’Pegasus’: CIA’s Assassination Project?) Former CIA deep cover agent Gene "Chip" Tatum: "Our mission in ´Pegasus´ was to align foreign leaders, foreign financiers, and foreign countries with the policies of the United States using first diplomacy. If diplomacy did not work, then it was turned over to the Pegasus unit to work in one of the three arenas that we were professionals at working: Blackmail, intimidation and murder"
