Pasteur Mrieux (1995) purified diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and killed Bordetella pertussis organisms adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide with thiomersal added as preservative

TRIVAX-AD   (DTP) The aluminium content does not exceed 1.25mg per dose. Organisms bearing all three pertussis agglutinogens are included. ...Thiomersal is added as a preservative to a final concentration of 0.01% w/v. The vaccine also contains Sodium Borate, Succinic Acid, Sodium Chloride and Water for Injections.

DIFTAVAX (DT)  Sterile aqueous suspension containing purified tetanus and low dose diphtheria toxoids. Each 0.5 ml dose contains not less than 40lU of tetanus toxoid and not less than 4lU of diphtheria toxoid. The toxoids are adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide; thiomersal is added as preservative.

TETRAMUNE (DTPH)   The diphtheria and tetanus toxoids are derived from Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Clostridium tetani, respectively, which are grown in media according to the method of Mueller and Miller and are detoxified by use of formaldehyde. The toxoids are refined by the Pillemer alcohol fractionation method and are diluted with a solution containing sodium phosphate monobasic, sodium phosphate dibasic, glycine and thiomersal (mercury derivative) as a preservative.

Hepatitis
Havrix (Hep A)‘Havrix’ is a formaldehyde-inactivated vaccine prepared from hepatitis A virus (HAV) HM 175 strain grown in human diploid cells. It is provided in prefilled syringes containing a turbid, white suspension. Each 1 ml dose contains not less than 720 ELISA units of hepatitis A viral protein adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide adjuvant together with 0.5% w/v 2-phenoxyethanol as preservative.

Engerix B (Hep B)'Engerix B' is a Suspension of hepatitis B surface antigen produced by yeast cells using a recombinant DNA technique. It is available as a fine white suspension in the following presentations: adult vials (1 ml) (UK and Ireland): paediatric vials (0.5 ml) (UK only); adult prefilled syringes (1 ml) (UK only). Each 1 ml contains 20 micrograms of protein, comprising at least 95% hepatitis B surface antigen, adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide adjuvant, together with thiomersal 1:20,000 as preservative.

TwinrixAdult (Hep A & B)  Twinnx’ Adult is a combined vaccine formulated by pooling bulk preparations of the purified, inactivated hepatitis A (HA virus and purified hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), separately adsorbed on to aluminium hydroxide and aluminium phosphate. The HA virus is propagated in MRC5 human diploid cells. HBsAg is produced by culture, in a selective medium, of genetically engineered yeast cells. Each 1.0 ml dose of vaccine contains not less than 720 ELISA units of inactivated HA virus and 20 mcg of recombinant HBsAg protein. Pack of 1(1m) prefilled syringe 27.14; pack of 10(1m) prefilled syringes 271.40.

MR/MMR
(Eolarix, 1994)  ‘Eolarix’ is a mixed preparation of the highly attenuated live measles virus (Schwarz strain) prepared in chick embryo tissue, and rubella virus (RA27/3 strain) prepared in human diploid cell culture, presented as a pink pellet in a glass vial with a separate container of clear colour less sterile diluent, (Water for Injections PhEur). Each 0.5 ml dose of the reconstituted vaccine contains not less than 1000 TCID50 of the Schwarz and 1000 TCID5O of the RA27/3 rubella virus strains and not more than 25 micrograms (17 IU) of neomycin sulphate.

M-M-R II a more attenuated line of measles virus, derived from Enders' attenuated Edmonston strain and grown in cell cultures of chick embryo; (2) MUMPSVAX* (Mumps Virus Vaccine Live, MSD), the Jeryl Lynn (B level) strain of mumps virus grown in cell cultures of chick embryo; and (3) MERU-VAX* II (Rubella Virus Vaccine Live, MSD), the Wistar RA 27/3 strain of live attenuated rubella virus grown in human diploid cell (Wl-38) culture1,2.: The vaccine viruses are the same as those used in the manufacture of ATTENUVAX (Measles Virus Vaccine Live, MSD), MUMPSVAX (Mumps Virus Vaccine Live, MSD) and MERUVAX II (Rubella Virus Vaccine Live, MSD). The three viruses are mixed before being lyophilized. The product contains no preservative.... When reconstituted as directed, the dose for injection is 0.5 mL and contains not less than the equivalent of 1,000 CCID„, (50% cell culture infective dose) of measles virus; 5,000 CCID,, of mumps virus; and 1,000 CCID,, of rubella virus. Each dose of the vaccine contains sorbitol (14.5 mg), sodium phosphate, sucrose (1.9 mg), sodium chloride, hydrolyzed gelatin (14.5 mg), human albumin (0.3 mg), foetal bovine serum (<1 ppm), other buffer and media ingredients and approximately 25 mcg of neomycin. The product contains no preservative.

Pneumococcal
Pneumovax II  Single-dose vial containing, in 0.5 ml, 25 mcg of each polysaccharide type derived from capsules of the 23 most prevalent pneumococci dissolved in isotonic saline containing 0.25% phenol.

Prevnar (Wyeth-Ayerst) Prevnar™, Pneumococcal 7-valent Conjugate Vaccine (Diphtheria CRM 197 Protein), is a sterile solution of saccharides of the capsular antigens of Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes 4, 6B, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F individually conjugated to diphtheria CRM 197 protein. Each serotype is grown in soy peptone broth. The individual polysaccharides are purified through centrifugation, precipitation, ultrafiltration, and column chromatography. The polysaccharides are chemically activated to make saccharides which are directly conjugated to the protein carrier CRM 197 to form the glycoconjugate. This is effected by reductive amination. CRM 197 is a nontoxic variant of diphtheria toxin isolated from cultures of Corynebacterium diphtheriae strain C7 ((beta)197) grown in a casamino acids and yeast extract-based medium. CRM 197 is purified through ultrafiltration, ammonium sulfate precipitation, and ion-exchange chromatography. The individual glycoconjugates are purified by ultrafiltration and column chromatography and are analyzed for saccharide to protein ratios, molecular size, free saccharide, and free protein. Prevnar™ is manufactured as a liquid preparation. Each 0.5 mL dose is formulated to contain: 2 g of each saccharide for serotypes 4, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F, and 4 g of serotype 6B per dose (16 g total saccharide); approximately 20 g of CRM 197 carrier protein; and 0.125 mg of aluminum per 0.5 mL dose as aluminum phosphate adjuvant.

Polio
Ipol (Injection) Rx Inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine is a sterile suspension of three strains of poliovirus: type l (Mahoney), type 2 (MEFI) and type 3 (Saukett). The viruses are grown in cultures of VERO cells, a continuous line of monkey kidney cells, by the microcarrier technique. The viruses are concentrated, purified and made noninfectious by inactivation with formaldehyde. Each sterile immunising dose (0.5 mL) of trivalent vaccine is formulated to contain antigen type 1 40 D units, antigen type 2 8 D units, and antigen type 3 32 D units.....Formaldehyde 0.02% (maximum) as preservative; traces of neomycin, streptomycin and polymyxin B used in vaccine production may be present.
